Retatiation Another funny series of lantern slides from the English manufacturer York & Son. The slides are square and measure 8.2 x 8.2 cm. They have also been released in a tinted version. An ordinary neighbour dispute. It starts off quite innocently when one of them ties a piece of string to the doorknob. The other responds with a garden hose, and the harassment goes back and forth like this until they both decide to leave the house. |

A night with a Baby This funny series of 13 lantern slides was probably made by Wrench & Son. This story begins so peacefully by the fireplace. Mr. Smallpiece is enjoying his pipe and his wife has their baby on her lap *). But then Mrs. Smallpiece leaves for the night to visit her mother and, as an exception, leaves the care of the baby to her husband **). For Mr. Smallpiece, this marks the end of the lovely repose and the beginning of a restless night. *) In the past, a baby's parents looked much older than they do today. **) In the past, roles within a marriage were clearly divided: men worked outside the home and women performed household chores and cared for the children. |
