De Mrs Books.
Lawson Wood (1878 1957) was an English painter, illustrator, and designer, known for his humorous depictions of cavemen and dinosaurs, police officers, and animals. He was the author and illustrator of six "Mrs. Books" for children: Mrs. Polly, Mrs. Bear, Mrs. Cackle, Mrs. Waddle, Mrs. Purr, and Mrs. Nibble. The booklets measured 10 x 10 cm, each containing 12 pages. The publisher was Frederick Warne & Co., London and New York. The six booklets were sold together in a cardboard box, "The Box of Mrs. Books" (c. 1930). Several of these colorful booklets were also published as sets of magic lantern slides.
