Directions for use: The series of mainly 12-slide sets have been produced in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and seems to have been sold under a number of different trade names, with many retailers applying their own series name. That's why the slides come upon in a lot of different cardboard boxes. It is also not sure that Theobald is the manufacturer of all the slide sets mentioned below, or that he is only one of the retailers. Theobald & Company, 1890, [cover-title].48 pages (incl. wrappers), printed on tinted paper and illustrated throughout. A fascinating catalogue containing all manner of dangerous-looking novelties, conjuring tricks, automata, magic lanterns, etc. The upper wrapper declares the printing to be the 648th thousand, but that seems to be a little bit exaggerated.
