When starting up this web site you see a welcome screen that is almost quite confiscated by a big book. The idea behind this, is that this side in a printed version could be a handy reference book that could be taken out of the bookcase regularly by collectors and those who are only interested, to look up some information or only to read a little bit in it.

On the top of the screen we see some buttons:

If these buttons are not visible on your screen, probably the use of Javascript on your browser is disabled. Consult the help function of your browser to enable the use of Javascript.

At the right you see an input field by which you can search inside the web site with the help of Google. For example entering here the search term 'Huygens' and after that clicking the button 'Zoeken/Search' results in a list of all items at this side that contain the name of Huygens (one of the inventors of the magic lantern).

By means of the first two buttons you can choose the Dutch or the English version. After your choice the screen changes. The texts in the not chosen language becomes grey and at the top of the screen appear, when you choose for English, the following buttons:

If these buttons are not visible on your screen, probably the use of Javascript on your browser is disabled. Consult the help function of your browser to enable the use of Javascript. Most right a counter keeps the number of times this site is visited. The first two buttons allow you still to choose the other language or to go back entirely to the homepage. The buttons in the block right bring you to a number of pages of contents. From there you can go to the desired item (for example via 'Themes/Series' to 'Child Play'.
	At the top left of nearly every page the Luikerwaal-logo is represented. By clicking the logo you go back to the homepage as well.
At the bottom of the page is a block with a number of icons, roughly showing like this:

Clicking this icon brings you to the Dutch version of the present page. Useful when you want to have a glimpse of it. You stay in the English version of the website however. The buttons at the top do not change. By clicking this icon you can visit the page 'What's New?' with a list of the most recent items. Minor changes and additions happen almost daily and are not mentioned here. By means of this icon you can consult this Manual.		By clicking this icon you quickly return to the start of the page. When an item consists of several pages the arrow-icons let you leaf through the pages forwards or backwards. This icon brings you back to the preceding page. This icon takes you to the next page. If there are no preceding or following pages the matching icons are not represented.
In the centre block you see information about the copyright and the date this page was updated for the last time. The homepage gives the date of last editing the site.
